The weather sure ran the gamut this season, but lo and behold, it sure helped produce some amazing fiddleheads! They seemed to start sprouting just a little bit late, but what a treat to see them (and our picker-partners) arriving at our door well into June.
Watch this spot for information about the start of fiddlehead season 2012, thank you for your patronage and we look forward to bringing you the freshest fronds around next April!
If you'd like to be notified by email when the season starts anew, send your email address to andrea@rumasfruit.com
Happy Summer! See you next year!
Fiddleheads are young, edible, fern shoots that are gathered when they are still curled. These greens are nutritious – high in vitamin A, vitamin C & iron; a good source of potassium; low in calories, fat & cholesterol.
Described often as a cross between asparagus and broccoli, its flavor is unique.
Ruma's delivers nationwide from our facility just outside of Boston, MA; we also broker to restaurants and chefs.
